Retro Game Mod: XWVM (X-Wing SE in HD)

X-Wing is definitely one of the classics that deserves an upgrade.  Creator FekLeyrTarg has done us all a huge favor of delivering this to us.  Currently in second round Pre-Alpha, the game has very frequent updates, an active fanbase, and looks great.  Lucasarts games are one of the companies that you generally cannot download as abandonware, but if you have an original copy, the Steam version, or the GOG version, you're good to go.  Here's a screen from the original game, and a couple shots of the mod.  Will post again once this releases (or if I'm able to get into the Beta!)

OffRoad Back From The Dead

Not only did I likely spend a small fortune on this in the arcade, but I discovered long ago that OffRoad had a pretty perfect PC version.  Really loved this game.  Looks like an indie developer is making a new version, ThunderWheels (totally unrelated to OffRoad, mmhmm).  It's looking pretty sweet.  My only gripe is I see no evidence that you can upgrade your trucks or anything, but it does have a track editor, and couch co-op!

New Retro Game: Thimbleweed Park

Stumbled across this today and very excited to see it.  A new point and click adventure from the creators of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion and described as blending the creepiness of Twin Peaks with the humor of Monkey Island. Wow.  There is no way this is going to be bad.  Looks like it's available on just about every platform, so will definitely be picking this up on Steam soon for a review.
